音楽監督 尾高 忠明
1947年生まれ。2018年4月から音楽監督に就任。また、国内主要オーケストラへの定期的な客演に加え、ロンドン交響楽団、ベルリン放送響等世界各地のオーケストラへ客演。
これまで1991年度サントリー音楽賞受賞。1997年英国エリザベス女王より大英勲章CBEを授与された。このほか1993年ウェールズ音楽演劇大学より名誉会員の称号、ウェールズ大学より名誉博士号、さらに1999年には英国エルガー協会より日本人初のエルガー・メダルを授与されている。2012年有馬賞(NHK交響楽団)、2014年北海道文化賞、2018年度関西音楽クリティック・クラブ賞本賞、大阪文化祭賞、日本放送協会放送文化賞、2019年第49回JXTG音楽賞洋楽部門本賞を受賞。2021年11月旭日小綬章を受賞。
現在大阪フィルハーモニー交響楽団音楽監督の他、NHK交響楽団正指揮者、BBCウェールズ・ナショナル管弦楽団桂冠指揮者、札幌交響楽団名誉音楽監督、東京フィルハーモニー交響楽団桂冠指揮者、読売日本交響楽団名誉客演指揮者、紀尾井ホール室内管弦楽団桂冠名誉指揮者。2010年から2014年までは新国立劇場オペラ芸術監督を務めた。2021年から「東京国際音楽コンクール〈指揮〉」の審査委員長に就任。
また後進の指導にも力を入れ、東京藝術大学名誉教授、相愛大学、京都市立芸術大学客員教授、国立音楽大学招聘教授を務めている。

Born in Kamakura in 1947. He studied at Toho Gakuen School of Music under Prof. Hideo Saito and then studied under Professor Hans Swarowsky and Professor Spannagel in Vienna.
One of Japan’s leading conductors, Mr. Otaka made his professional broadcasting debut in 1971 with the NHK Symphony Orchestra. he toured with the NHK Symphony Orchestra to China (Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin) to commemorate 40 years of the normalization of diplomatic ties between Japan and China.
He served as Permanent Conductor of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra for 20 years, and he toured extensively in Asia and Europe with them. Then he was appointed the Music Director of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, he has been the Music Director of Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra since 2018.
He is now a popular and familiar figure on podiums throughout the world, he is particularly known in the UK. Mr Otaka became Principal Conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (formerly the BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra) in 1987, and made his Prom debut with them the following year. In 1993, the Welsh College of Music and Drama conferred an Honorary Fellowship on Mr Otaka, and he also holds an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Wales. In 1997, he was awarded the CBE, in recognition of his outstanding contribution over many years to British musical life. He is also the first Japanese ever to receive the Elgar Medal in 1999, for his continuous efforts at spreading the works by Elgar outside the UK.
Outside the UK, he has received invitations to the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony (hr-Sinfonieorchester), Bamberg Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic and others.
Currently Mr Otaka is honorary professor of the Tokyo University of the Arts, visiting professor of the Soai University and the Kyoto City University of Arts and guest professor of the Kunitachi College of Music.
He was assigned to be the chairperson of the Panel of Judges of the Tokyo International Music Competition for conducting in 2021. He was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun from Cabinet Office of Japan.
